THROWING KNIVES: The New Secondary Weapon
Operators, in this patch we've introduced a new secondary weapon intended to expand your tactical options in both melee and mid-range combat. Meet the sleek and deadly THROWING KNIVES — a weapon for those who value speed and aim for maximum efficiency in matches. These blades require skill and precision, but in capable hands, they may become a powerful tool for neutralizing enemies.
The new THROWING KNIVES secondary weapon may become very effective in various battlefield scenarios. Are you being pursued by an enemy? Throw a knife at them and retreat immediately! Is your enemy at low HP, trying to regroup for another attack? Throw a knife to finish them off! THROWING KNIVES deal damage on hit and cause your enemies to bleed.
The new THROWING KNIVES secondary weapon is available in Elite Battle Pass 23 in October.
Gameplay Features
- THROWING KNIVES come with 2 charges in your equipment, and this number cannot be increased through operator abilities or talents.
- An operator throws a knife when an enemy enters their targeting area.
- Killing an enemy with THROWING KNIVES replenishes all charges, and kills from bleeding damage also restore knife charges.
- When the operator has 1 knife left, they will only be able to use it as a melee weapon and will not be able to throw it.
- At close range, THROWING KNIVES will be used as a melee weapon regardless of the remaining charges. Melee damage from THROWING KNIVES is less than that of the MACHETE, but it adds the bleeding effect on hit.
- THROWING KNIVES are considered melee weapons in terms of stats for all forms of usage.
- If the operator throws a knife and an ally finishes the enemy with gunfire, the knife will return to the equipment.
- If the operator uses THROWING KNIVES but doesn't kill the enemy, the THROWING KNIVES will go on cooldown.
- Operator abilities that affect firing rate will not have an impact on THROWING KNIVES — their throw speed will remain constant.
- LANDAU EMITTER and explosions do not displace THROWING KNIVES.
Our game designers would like to point out that operators and their abilities should interact with the new weapon in unique ways, and it's important to share these experiences with players. Here are a few tricks that will definitely come in handy:
- JASON: Reloads THROWING KNIVES during a dodge.
- BATYA: Reduces incoming damage from THROWING KNIVES by 70% and restores the dodge after throwing a knife.
- KLAUS: The "Lethal Weapon" talent applies to all melee attacks except for knife throws.
- DAVID: Increases the reload speed of THROWING KNIVES by 100%.
- CAPISCE: Throws a knife during a dodge.
- MCMEAN: The "Dirty Play" and "Fast Reload" talents speed up the reload speed of THROWING KNIVES.
- CHARON: The damage inflicted by THROWING KNIVES is increased by 75%.
- CHEN LI: Does not deflect THROWING KNIVES.
And don't forget the assassin's creed: nothing is true, everything is permitted… except missing with THROWING KNIVES!

Gameplay Changes
New Mods for MACHETE
Another noticeable addition in this patch is mods for the MACHETE secondary weapon. Turn your MACHETE into a truly unique and powerful weapon by adding various upgrades. Experiment with new mods and find those that match your playstyle and tactical goals. Proper weapon tuning will give you a decisive advantage in melee combat. Choose the optimal combination of mods to make your weapon as effective as possible in any situation.
New mods for MACHETE can be installed on both the blade and the handle. By combining mods on different parts of the weapon, you can create the perfect balance between damage and speed.
Improved Grass Visual Effects
We are thrilled that the new BRUSH camouflage mechanic has added variety to matches and opened up new tactical possibilities for players. In this patch, we've made several changes to improve your experience with this mechanic.
Previously, some patches of tall grass could be misleading because of their size, creating the illusion of cover when there wasn't actually any. We've reworked both the models and visual effects of the grass to clearly indicate zones where you can hide and those that don't offer protection. Now, you'll be able to easily distinguish between places you can take cover and those where you need to be more cautious.
The listed changes and the BRUSH camouflage mechanic are available on the following maps such as "AIRCRAFT GRAVEYARD" (Capture the Bag mode), "VILLAGE" (Control mode), and the Battle Royale.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed the issue where OWEN's dash would not activate upon landing from a height, but would still be used up.
- Fixed the issue due to which MIRO's talent stats were displayed incorrectly.
- Fixed the issue due to which MIRO's talents "Reinforced Grenade" and "Chemical Injures" would not apply the bleeding effect to enemies.
- Fixed the issue due to which kills of zombies with the special weapon SENTRY TURRET were not counted towards the progress of infected kill missions in the "Descent" mode.
- Fixed the issue that prevented players from claiming their Event Marathon rewards if they closed the pop-up window without claiming the rewards (the pop-up window would reappear but without any rewards to claim).
- Fixed the issue that caused the notification sign to continue flashing on the "Outfits" section button for MCMEAN, even when no new outfits were available in his equipment.
- Fixed the issue due to which an enlarged icon of one of the teams would appear on the screen when selecting a map in the "Training" mode.
Conclusion
The update is now live, and we're confident it will bring fresh ideas to your gameplay. We've put a lot of effort into these changes and hope they provide you with exciting moments and new tactical opportunities! One more gameplay tip for those who've read the patch notes to the end: if an enemy is using an MRA3-6, and you need to eliminate them in melee combat without risking an explosion — THROWING KNIVES will be your best choice.
